Commenting as the Scottish Parliament debates the Scotland Bill, Scottish Liberal Democrat leader Tavish Scott MSP said:
"Scotland has had ten years and more of devolution - of its own parliament.
"The Scotland Bill is a step forward. It will improve the next parliament and the one after that.
"MSPs will be more accountable to the people of Scotland and to individuals, organisations and Scottish business.
"This Bill will strengthen Scottish democracy for the future.
"The SNP Government never thought they would see this day. Opposition parties working together, representing the majority of the popular vote and putting Scotland first.
"We are working together to produce proposals for reform and change. This debate is initiated not by the Government, but by the majority parties working together in Scotland's interests.
"And the final ignominy for the Nationalists? The Bill was launched on St Andrew's Day. On a day which they have tried to say is theirs.
"Well Scotland is bigger and better than that. My nation is no marketing product of one party. It's the country we all believe in, care for and passionately want to succeed."
