Scottish Soft drinks company AG Barr is joining the UK wide scheme, Courtauld Commitment 2, in an effort to reduce household waste and cut product and packaging waste in the grocery supply chain.
Commenting Liberal Democrat Environment spokesman Jim Hume MSP said:
"We welcome the news that this Scottish soft drink giant is joining the Courtauld Commitment 2. It is a great way for big manufactures and companies to reduce their wastage and help protect our environment.
"The Scottish Liberal Democrats are committed to reducing the amount of material that is sent to landfill sites across the country and as a result we have consistently tried to tackle waste in Scotland and hold the government to account.
"However, Scotland still has much to do in order to achieve a society free of unnecessary waste.
"Much more has to be done to the SNP to convince people that they are serious about their proposed 'zero waste' society.
"If the SNP are serious about cleaning up the environment then Ministers have to up their game."
