Commenting as the SNP publishes their White Paper on independence, Scottish Liberal Democrat leader Tavish Scott MSP said:

"The SNP are a minority party with a majority ego trying to impose independence on Scotland when it is neither what Scotland wants nor needs.

"The SNP's obsession with independence is a waste of time and £12 million of taxpayers' money.

"This money should have been spent sorting out the mess that the SNP has made of our schools. They owe an apology to pupils and parents who were promised smaller class sizes and new schools and the growing number of unemployed young teachers for getting their priorities badly wrong."
