Commenting on the first meeting of the new multi-agency police board today (Monday) in Edinburgh, Liberal Democrat Justice spokesperson Robert Brown MSP said:
"Closer cooperation and working between the police, local authorities and ministers is to be welcomed.
"I do not believe, however, there is a place at this time of tight financial pressures for yet another formal Government body - particularly one with more than a whiff of centralisation about it."
