West of Scotland Liberal Democrat MSP Ross Finnie has slammed the MoD's decision to close and sell the Navy Buildings in Greenock.
The Navy Buildings at Greenock, which houses marines, amphibious police and coastguards will close in March 2011 and be sold.Ross Finnie MSP: West of Scotland
Commenting Mr Finnie said:
"I am dismayed that yet again the Government is intent on closing down Government Buildings in Inverclyde. First it was the Customs Building at Customhouse Quay and now we have the decision to close and sell the Navy Buildings in Greenock, after spending money to refurbishment these buildings just to close them down in 2011.
"The potential loss of jobs in Greenock is very concerning and it will be interesting to hear our Westminster MP, David Cairns explain away this double whammy to our local community."
